We love the quote from George Bernard Shaw, 'we don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing'.
It's so easy, particularly as an adult, to fall into the habit of placing more importance on the things we feel we have to do, than the things we want or love to do.
We live in the real world and know that sometimes you've just got to get things done, BUT it's so important to make time for the fun stuff too.
It can sometimes seem like there aren't enough hours in the day to get through our work, our chores, and to be there for our families and friends.
So why should we valiantly carve out, and be protective of time, for us to play and be creative?
Firstly, finding something you love, can have such a positive impact on your state of mind, that it can make everything else seem just that little bit easier. It can introduce you to new people and skills that enrich your well-being and give you so much more experience and energy to bring back to your other roles in life.
The activities we love can also teach us valuable life lessons such as how we respond to challenge and how we can achieve things we never thought possible, and these lessons can positively translate through to every aspect of our lives.
Thinking towards later stages in life when our other roles change and evolve and we hopefully have a little bit more free time on our hands; how can we expect to accept our new roles in life and enjoy filling that time, if we have never allowed ourselves to discover what we love to do.
So we encourage you all to identify what you love to do, and give yourself permission to find a regular slot in your life for some 'me-time'. By caring for yourself, you'll be so much more able to care for other people.
